Be Kind — to yourself at work

We are only human and we have our ups and downs so why are we expected to bring our A-game to work and maintain that 120% effort, focus, and commitment, Monday to Friday, 9 to 6pm (or even more)?

And if you have other commitments outside of work or if you are working a job just to pay to bills or get closer to FIRE (Financial Independence and Retire Early), chances are you are dragging your feet to work. In fact, statistics show that 85% of people dislike their job.

For a while, I was sick of the rat race and wanted out as quickly as possible. Is that all to life? Waking up, working a job, pay our bills, then we die? I had to write an article to remind myself that I have lots to gain by going to work.

If you are feeling frustrated at work and you are just going through the motions, know that you are not alone. I had to remind myself that it is only work, not to take things too personally and that this too will pass. I had to adjust my attitude or risk spiralling downwards. If you find yourself struggling as well, here is a reminder of how you can be kinder to yourself.
