Career in a rut? Look ahead to 2024
There are many occasions when I have to drag myself out of bed in the mornings to make it to work. I even wrote an article about the merits of having a job as a reminder of why I should remain gainfully employed.
If you dread going to work, here are a few reasons why you should hang on to your job for a little bit longer.
1. Insurance
One of the perks of having a permanent job is that it provides some form of insurance or another. I had a friend who fell (outside of work) and hurt herself really badly. Thankfully, her medical fees (over $30,000) could be covered by the insurance that her company provided.
2. Paid time off
Working a job also means that you are entitled to paid time off. Annual leave and medical leave are part of your package and you can enjoy the downtime while still getting paid.
3. Income
On that note, even if you are only giving it 80% at work, you will still be paid in full at the end of the month. Take the time after work to do what you love, to figure out what it is you really enjoy or spend it on looking for your next job.
Having said that, if you feel like your mental health is suffering because of work then you should consider taking a break and seek help. No job or its associated perks is more important than your well-being.
